Health care navigators, insurance brokers and insurance agents will be on hand Saturday to help people without healthcare coverage enroll for insurance through an Affordable Care Act plan.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Wooly, 20 N. Main St. in downtown Gainesville.
There will also be a health fair with blood pressure screenings, diabetes screenings, nutrition advice and an “ask the pharmacist” feature.
Groups participating in the event include Enroll America, The Gainesville Chapter of The Links Incorporated, The Epilepsy Foundation of Florida, the WellFlorida Council and the Suwannee River Area Health Education Center.
The deadline to apply to get coverage through the ACA in 2015 is Feb. 15. So far, nearly 1.3 million people in Florida have signed up for coverage through the ACA in 2015, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
