JACKSONVILLE, Fl. — The Epilepsy Foundation of Florida’s Walk the Talk for Epilepsy Event will be held on Saturday, April 18th at Jacksonville University. The event raises awareness and funds to benefit Floridians impacted by epilepsy. Currently, there are over 375,000 Floridians affected by this disease.

“We’re grateful to have so much local support here in Jacksonville,” said Viktor El-Saieh, EFOF’s Executive Director of Northeast Florida. “We’re working hard to educate the community on what it really means to live with epilepsy and I think people are noticing that and want to be involved, regardless of whether they are affected personally.”

Action News John Bachman will make a special appearance at the event to help raise awareness.

“I know adults who fight through epilepsy every day to be regular successful friends and professionals. I know parents who struggle every minute of every day with epileptic children. All of them exhibit courage, strength, and positivity that is inspiring,” John explained. “A walk is the least we can do to raise money, awareness and support in their fight.”

Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., with the actual walk beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 11:00 a.m. There will be entertainment for children and adults, as well as prizes and announcements following the 5K. The walk is superhero themed, so come dressed in costume! For more information, visit the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida’s website.
