Painting With a Purpose to Kickstart New Naples Epilepsy Resource Center

Naples Herald, October 24, 2016

The Epilepsy Foundation of Florida is aiming to shed light on its flagship cause with its new Naples Epilepsy Resource Center located at the Greater Naples YMCA.

The event will take place on Sunday, November 13 at Painting with a Twist. Attendees will receive step-by-step instruction with experienced local artists and will leave with a one-of-a-kind piece of art.

Half of all proceeds from this class will directly benefit the Naples Epilepsy Resource Center.

“My gratitude goes out to Painting with a Twist for hosting this important event benefiting those affected by epilepsy in the Naples community,” said Karen Basha-Egozi, CEO of the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida.

The center will aid people with normal everyday activities, according to Basha-Egozi.

“The new Naples Epilepsy Resource Center will provide a comfortable environment for individuals with epilepsy and their caretakers to find the necessary resources and guidance to help manage their everyday lives. With the Greater Naples YMCA partnership, we will be able to reach out to many more people in our local community.”

Epilepsy is a common neurological condition that one in 26 people will be diagnosed with at some point in their life, according to studies. It is a disorder more people live with than autism, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy combined. More than 400,000 Floridians and their families are affected by epilepsy.
